What does a Delivery Lead actually do? And what is life at The Value Hub really like? Instead of giving you a polished corporate pitch, we decided to ask the people who know best: our team. First up in our Life at The Value Hub series is Mathias, our Delivery Lead, problem-solver, and self-proclaimed “Dennis Rodman” of the company.
Hey Mathias! Let’s start with the basics: how do you explain your job as a Delivery Lead to friends or family?
“It usually starts with explaining what a consultant actually does: I get embedded into client organizations for a set period to fill specific roles.
As for my day-to-day as a Delivery Lead? I lead a team of developers, and together we work toward one single goal: delivering working software that makes life easier for the users. That means managing a project from A to Z, from analyzing what the client actually needs and guiding developers in their thought process, to testing the final result and ensuring a seamless go-live.”
What is the biggest misconception people have about project management or delivery?
“That it’s just sitting in meetings, having casual chats with people, and not doing any actual work outside of talking. Trust me, there’s a lot more action behind the scenes than just talking!”
How do you structure your average week to balance planning, status updates, and client contact?
“We have fixed planning meetings on specific days. I prepare these in advance so the developers and I can efficiently map out the backlog and ongoing sprints. We also run daily stand-ups to quickly sync on who is doing what. Wednesday is our dedicated office day, which is when we usually tackle maintenance tickets.
I try to schedule my most important meetings in the morning when I’m sharpest. That leaves my afternoons open for deep work: troubleshooting issues, testing, or diving into technical analyses. When a release date approaches, we shift into high gear with dedicated testing blocks and bug-fixing sessions where the entire team is fully focused.”

“Every single person here is an incredibly strong player with unique talents: a team of superstars”
Projects rarely go exactly as planned. How do you keep your cool when a deadline is at risk or an unexpected issue pops up?
“By always maintaining a clear view of what is realistically possible and what isn’t. You have to communicate transparently and make sharp agreements with the business side so nobody faces unexpected surprises.
My mindset is always solution-oriented, and we push hard right up until the deadline. I try to shield our developers from outside distractions or ad-hoc questions as much as possible, so they can keep their full focus on the priority at hand.”
What has been your most memorable success story or ‘go-live’ at The Value Hub so far?
“That would definitely be our project for Acerta. It was a completely new team that had been working together for about four months toward our first big go-live. Just one month before the deadline, the previous delivery lead unexpectedly dropped out. I stepped in, took over the entire scope, and ended up testing code until literally an hour before the release to make sure the launch went off without a hitch. When it succeeded flawlessly, there were literal tears of joy. We overcame so many obstacles together as a team.“
“If you feel like the odd duck in the pond, but you know how to roll up your sleeves and get things done, there is a place for you at The Value Hub”
If you had to compare the The Value Hub team to a sports team, who are we?
“The 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls Dream Team. Every single person here is an incredibly strong player with unique talents: a team of superstars. But when we come together, the synergy is unreal. We achieve massive results and build memories for life.
Myself? I’d say I’m Dennis Rodman. A bit of an eccentric character on the team, but a fierce defender who ensures we cross the finish line with flying colors. I’m someone you can absolutely rely on, but honestly, you can say that about everyone at The Value Hub.“
What is the most typical ‘TVH moment’ that stuck with you outside of office hours?
“Our short-ski trip! But as the golden rule goes: what happens at short-ski, stays at short-ski…”

If you had to describe The Value Hub in just three words, which ones would you choose?
“Opportunities, safety, and quality.”
We are looking for new colleagues to join us by September. What trait should your ideal teammate definitely have?
“If you feel like the odd duck in the pond, but you know how to roll up your sleeves and get things done, there is a place for you at The Value Hub. You need to be open-minded, enthusiastic, and ready to go with the flow. Anyone can fit in here, you just have to want it.“
Final question: why should someone make the leap and apply at The Value Hub?
“If you are looking for a genuine challenge, combined with a fantastic atmosphere and great camaraderie both on and off the work floor, I highly recommend The Value Hub. Especially if you want to grow professionally; there are endless opportunities and paths you can take here to shape the career you truly want.”
